2018 First in the Nation Suffrage Celebration
On a stormy summer night, members of the South St. Paul community gathered in the shelter of Luther Memorial Church to form a unique community art installation of 84 hand crafted luminaries to honor each of the First 19th Amendment Voters in 1920.
Thank You to Everyone Who
Came Together to Build Our
Luminary Art Installation
2018 participants included our future Governor Tim Walz, Congress Member Angie Craig, Minnesota State Auditor Julie Blaha, State Representative Anne Claflin, State Representative Rick Hansen, State Senator Karla Bigham and State Senator Matt Klein.
When we out grew the gathering space at the City Hall, Luther Memorial Church graciously provided us space for the Third Annual First in the Nation Suffrage Celebration. Luther Memorial is a very fitting location, it serves as a polling place on election days. Many thanks to Luther Memorial for their support!
